Charoset for Passover

Charoset a little different than Bubbe made it.

  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 2 Small Onions Finely diced
  • 9 Red Delicious Apples (peeled and chopped)
  • 9 Granny Smith Apples (peeled and chopped)
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 18-20 Ounces Dried Apricot (chopped)
  • 11 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • Zest of 2 Lemons
  • Juice of 2 Lemons
  • 2 Teaspoons of Cinnamon
  • 4-5 Cups Chopped Walnuts


In a saucepan over medium heat sauce onion in melted butter until soft. Stir in apples, apricot, lemon juice, lemon zest and water. Cook until apples are tender. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts.

Passover Seder.
