Best Rice Krispie Treats

  • 12 Cups Rice Krispie Cereal
  • Dash of Salt (omit if using salted butter)
  • 3 Bags Mini Marshmallows (reserve 4-5 cups)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 10 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter


Line 13x9 baking pan with parchment paper, coat with non-stick cooking spray. In a slow cooker or 6 Qt pot, melt butter. (200 degrees or on medium low). Melt and brown butter to a golden color (don't let it burn). Turn heat down to warm (or if on stove sown to low. Stir in marshmallows until melted (reserve 4-5 cups for later). Turn heat off. Add vanilla and salt. (if you use salted butter, omit salt in the recipe). Stir in Rice Krispie cereal. Once all of the cereal is well coated, quickly stir in the 4-5 cups of marshmallows that you reserved. Coat rubber spatula with cooking spray. Spread mixture evenly over your prepared pan. Let cool completely before cutting. Store in airtight container.
